Lake County Health District – Mosquito season is right around the corner. Summer staff is needed for two types of jobs.
- The larval crew works M-F, 8:30 to 4:30. They try to start around Memorial Day and work into August or early September. Their primary job is to look for mosquito breeding in wet areas and treat standing water to eliminate the larva. They also respond to residents’ complaints about mosquitoes, usually educating property owners about breaking the life cycle by eliminating standing water on their property. The candidate should be a self-starter, like to be outside, and be able to follow directions and keep notes about their activities. They also should be comfortable driving a full-size pickup truck. In the past, these jobs have been filled by college-age students. This job pays $14.00/hour.
- Driving spray trucks. This is more of an on-call job and staff could be asked to work M-Th from 7 pm to around 12 am. Ideally, we like to send 4 trucks out a night, but a few extra drivers are needed in case someone needs an evening off. The drivers would be responsible to drive a specific route and operate the sprayer(turning on and off as needed). We usually start spraying in mid-June and continue until September. Over the past few years we have sprayed an average of 20 nights, but have sprayed over 30 nights if the need is there. This job pays $15.00/ hour.

Lake County Engineer’s Office
Design Engineer:
The primary objective of this position, in the Engineering Department, is to perform a variety of professional civil engineering and surveying tasks in the field and office related primarily to subdivision construction, drainage problems, building site development, GPS and GIS, roadway design, stormwater management, and other related work. The incumbent in this position works under the general supervision of the County Engineer, Chief Deputy Engineer or their designee.
Construction Observer:
The primary objective of this part-time or full-time position, in the Engineering Department, is to perform a variety of construction-oriented tasks in the field related to the inspection and preliminary design of construction projects and programs. The incumbent in this position works as a member of a construction management team under the general supervision of the Project Engineer and the Construction Engineer.
Construction Inspector:
Full-time position or part-time position, requiring a minimum of 3 years’ experience in construction inspection. Must be able to perform field inspections of various county and township projects including paving operations, storm sewer installation, culverts, bridges, and other related construction activities.

Appeals Attorney Job Posting
