Commissioners Appoint Christian Courtwright as Lake County Dog Warden
PAINESVILLE, Ohio, October 8, 2026 – The Lake County Board of Commissioners have unanimously voted to appoint Christian Courtwright to the position of Lake County Dog Warden at their Commissioners’ Meeting on October 8, 2026.
The newly appointed Dog Warden will oversee daily operations at the Lake County Dog Shelter and enforce all state and local laws related to domestic dogs. The Board of Commissioners expressed confidence that this leadership transition will enhance the welfare of animals and improve responsiveness to residents throughout the county.
Mr. Courtwright has spent the last twenty plus years in humane law enforcement and animal control in the states of Texas and Ohio. Most recently, he was the Lead Humane Agent for the Lake Humane Society. Mr. Courtwright will begin his position as Dog Warden on October 30, 2026.
County Administrator Jason W. Boyd stated, “I have the utmost confidence in Mr. Courtwright to lead the Lake County Dog Shelter. This role is essential to both public safety and humane treatment of animals in our community. We look forward to continued progress in customer service and operational efficiency at the Lake County Dog Shelter.”
