Lake Effect Program

Lake Effect

The Lake Effect Program (LEP) is a court-ordered treatment program provided to youth while they are incarcerated in the juvenile detention center. The program operates in two tiers based on length of detention: a short-term tier for youth detained under 90 days and a long-term tier for youth detained 90 days or more. The program uses time spent in the detention center to provide structured, evidence-based treatment focused on skill development, accountability, and behavioral change. Responsible behavior, relationships and communication, victim awareness, and handling difficult feelings are the main components focused on during this program. Treatment is composed of individual and group sessions, as well as family sessions when deemed appropriate.
