Master Gardener Al Barnes presented Judge DeLeone with the Outstanding Master Gardener Volunteer Project Award at The Ohio State University Extension Master Gardeners’ annual awards program, recognizing this year’s garden program at the detention center. The program brings together Master Gardener volunteers and detention center residents to plant, maintain, and harvest a garden on the facility grounds. Produce from the garden is used in the detention center kitchen, with surplus vegetables donated to local charities.
