Effective immediately, Madison Avenue between Woodworth Avenue and Virginia Drive in Painesville Township will be closed to all traffic.
The Lake County Engineer has been monitoring the retaining wall on the south side of the road and has determined that additional inspections and evaluations regarding the structural integrity of the wall are needed. The road will remain closed until the results of the study are available.
We apologize for the short notice and the inconvenience but this office believes that the emergency closure is necessary to protect public welfare and safety. Drivers should not try to drive around and/or move the barricades to gain access.
Suggested alternate route:
Woodworth Avenue, Casement Avenue, US 20 (North Ridge Road) and Bowhall Road.
