THE LAKE COUNTY BUILDING DEPT WINDOW WILL BE OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AS FOLLOWS:

NORMAL HOURS M-TH 9:00AM – 4:00PM AND FRIDAY 9:00AM – 1:00PM

Plans and Permits can be submitted through our web site, through [email protected] or deposited into the drop box at the entrance of 105 Main St, Painesville.

The Lake County Building Department is responsible for the administration and enforcement of the applicable State of Ohio Building codes for residential, commercial, and industrial construction in its Jurisdiction.  These Building Codes provide the department’s inspectors with guidelines to help ensure the health and welfare of the residents. Certified by the State of Ohio, the Building Department provides Plan Reviews, Inspection Services, and Building, Electrical, Mechanical and Fire Protection Code information.      

We are honored to be chosen for the 2016 David A. Smith Building Department of the Year Award from the Ohio Board of Building Standards. We would like to thank everyone for their continued support through the many changes over the past year. IT IS OUR GOAL TO COMPLETE OUR PLAN REVIEW PROCESS IN TWO WEEKS; HOWEVER, WE CANNOT PREDICT OUR WORK LOAD AND IT MAY TAKE LONGER TO COMPLETE THE PROCESS (THE CODE ALLOWS US 30 BUSINESS DAYS).  PLEASE PLAN YOUR PROJECTS ACCORDINGLY.  WE APPRECIATE YOUR ASSISTANCE.

The Lake County Building Department will be open to the public Monday – Friday from 8:00 am -4:00 pm. Residents, builders and developers may still submit plans online or use the existing drop boxes. For specific questions, please contact the Building Department at 440-350-2636
