    The Detective Bureau investigates felony crimes for the Sheriff's Office.   This dedicated group of professionals has been responsible for the prosecution and incarceration of numerous criminals in Lake County, making our County a safer place to live and work.  The phone numbers listed below are secure lines. Please feel free to call and leave any information that would assist Law Enforcement in keeping our neighborhoods safe.   The Detective Bureau will also assist  people by directing questions or information related to criminal activity to the proper authority.   

    Capt. Ron Walters, CLEE is the Detective Bureau Commander, and has served over 23 years in field of law enforcement.  Capt. Walters came to the Sheriff's Office after serving in the United States Marine Corps.  Ron is a graduate of the Northwestern Staff and Command school , Police Executive Leadership College, and the Certified Law Enforcement Executive program.  Capt. Walters has served in many aspects of leadership at the Sheriff's Office including patrol deputy, shift sergeant, shift Lieutenant, and for the past 5 years as Detective Bureau Commander.  He has served 17 years on the Lake County Sheriff's office SWAT team; 3 years as Team Commander and 10 years as a team leader.  Ron is a member of the Ohio Department of Public Safety - Tactical Technical Advisory Board  for Homeland Security , Member of the Ohio Advisory Committee on Methamphetamine, and Member of the Lake County Child Fatality Review Board.
