The Employment and Training
Division of the Lake County Department of Job and Family Services offers a
number of resources to aid employers and job seekers, as well as individuals
seeking more information about careers, the labor market, and work-related issues.
The Employment and Training Division serves as the operator of OhioMeansJobs
Lake County workforce development system, a cooperative effort of public and
private organizations in Lake County working together to quickly serve
customers' employment-related needs. Through OhioMeansJobs Lake County, individuals
can be linked to services such as subsidized housing, vocational
rehabilitation, small business assistance, and mental health services.
A 31-station computer resource room
with Internet access allows job seekers to search job postings and help wanted
ads, apply for jobs, and post their resumes online.
Help is available for resume
writing and interviewing. Other resources enable individuals to learn popular
business software applications, keyboarding, and English or Spanish as a second
language. Job seekers needing to contact employers can use free phone, fax, and
copier service for job related purposes. Searchable employer directories and a
comprehensive career information system are other tools for customers' use.
Employment and Training Division staff are on hand to provide orientation and
guidance. These services are free and open to the general public.
For persons needing more assistance
in finding work, the Employment and Training Division offers personalized staff
help with job search, and vocational testing and assessment. Scholarships may
be available for occupational skill training in demand fields at local schools.
For employers, the Employment and
Training Division offers recruiting, pre-employment screening, and employee
training, as well as valuable information on tax saving services and labor
market planning.
The Employment and Training
Division also funds programs for disadvantaged youth, ages 16 - 21, to empower
them to either complete high school or obtain a GED, and make a successful
transition to work or higher education.
The Employment and Training
Division provides job search services for customers of other divisions within
Lake County ODJFS, including participants in the Ohio WorksFirst program and
the Equal Opportunity Program.
