Items for Sale
Soil Test Kits ($10)
A soil test kit consists of a box for the sample and a short form to submit to the lab. The samples are then sent via mail to Michigan (at your cost - approximately $5, depending on the weight). We can also provide a shipping box at no charge. If you would like the soil test kit mailed to you, it will cost an additional $1 for postage.
Rainwater and Land Development ($20)
Ohio's standards for storm water management, land development, and urban stream protection. This publication is a must for anyone who deals with stormwater management and erosion control. Contact the district office to order.
Common Groundwork ($15)
A practical guide to protecting rural and urban land. A valuable tool for anyone involved in land use decisions, this handbook is a compendium of land-use decision-making tools and the reference and contacts for putting these tools to work. Copies available at the Lake SWCD.
The Countryside Program Manual ($15)
The new Countryside Program Resource Annual Manual is now available from Lake SWCD. Published by the Western Reserve Resource Conservation & Development (RC&D) Council, the manual is an excellent resource for developers and communities interested in the conservation development concept. Ohio Sediment Sticks ($8)
These clear plastic tubes are used to measure turbidity while stream monitoring. Each comes with a laminated instructional sheet. Postage will be added if you want them shipped - approximately $3-4 per stick, depending on location and quantity.
USGS topographic maps ($6 per quad)
The eight 7.5 minute quads that contain portions of Lake County are kept in stock at the district office. For other areas of the state, contact the Ohio Geological Survey.
Tree Sale
Each winter Lake SWCD takes orders for bare-root tree seedling packets. Look for the order form in the Winter issue of CrosSection, the Winter issue of the Lake Metroparks magazine Parks Plus or this website after Thanksgiving.
