CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION

Staff Training

Children Services has a multifaceted training and development program supporting the mission of the agency. Continuous training and professional development must be maintained by the staff to ensure  we are providing the highest quality protection, permanency and prevention services for children and families.

The children services division ensures all staff receive in house training as well as core competency training in conjunction with the Ohio Child Welfare Training Program. Each new social worker begins employment in a training unit to ensure that they obtain the specific skills needed to provide effective intervention for the families in Lake County. Initial CORE training is provided within a new employee’s first year of service, and ongoing training needs assessments (ITNA) are administered to ensure they receive the appropriate continuing education.
