Beginning December 1st, Lake County Dog Licenses will go on sale at various
locations throughout the County. The cost of a Lake County dog license is $15.00
through January 31st. After that date, the cost will be $30.00, which includes
a $15.00 late penalty, as required by Ohio law. Remember, all dogs three (3)
months old and older must be licensed, per Ohio law. Lake County dog licenses
can only be sold for dogs that are harbored in Lake County. If your dog is harbored in another county, you must obtain your license from that respective county.
Lake County dog licenses can be purchased in several different ways which are as follows:
- If you purchased a license last year, you should have received an application in the mail around Thanksgiving. Simply mail in your application with the $15.00 fee and your license will be mailed back to you.
- Licenses can be purchased from local agents throughout the County that represent the Auditor. See the list below for the agent nearest to you. With the exception of the Lake County Auditor's Office and the Lake County Dog Shelter, a $0.75 administrative fee will be added to the cost of the license
(Per O.R.C. 955.14) when a license is purchased from an agent.
- During the month of December, as a convenience to you holiday shoppers, dog licenses can be obtained at the Great Lakes Mall. Look for our Dog License Booth, located just outside the entrance to J.C. Penney's. The mall booth will be open between 10:00 AM and 9:00 PM everyday throughout the month of December, with extended hours on a few days just before Christmas. A new dog license is a great Christmas present for the dog which you and your family love so dearly, so stop by our booth at the Great Lakes Mall.

it and mail it in with the $15.00 fee and your license will be mailed back
to you.
