Lake County Department of Job and Family Services-Workforce Investment Act - Wednesday, September 01, 2010

LAKE COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF JOB AND FAMILY SERVICES SEEKS PROPOSALS FOR DATA COLLECTION AND AUTOMATION SERVICES 

Notice is hereby given that the Lake County Department of Job and Family Services (LCDJFS) is seeking proposals from organizations and individuals wishing to provide services funded under Title I of the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 (P.L.105-220) or related sources.

LCDJFS is seeking a single source provider to provide data collection and automation services needed to develop a PC based reporting system to track training provider outcomes in order to monitor program accountability and for the benefit of WIA consumers considering their training options.

 

The contract for this project shall not exceed six months in duration or a cost in excess of $50,000.00.

LAKE COUNTY EMA-Mitigation Plan - Monday, August 30, 2010

MITIGATION PLAN AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW

 

The Lake County Hazard Mitigation Core Planning Committee has recently completed an update to the Lake County Hazard Mitigation Plan.

This plan identifies the hazards to which LakeCounty is susceptible as well as a variety of projects that can be undertaken to lessen the effects of those hazards. The updated document is available for review at the Lake County Emergency Operations Center at 8515 Garfield Road in Mentor from September 1st through September 14th.

A form will be provided to document any comments. 

The Lake County Hazard Mitigation Plan was developed in 2003 per federal requirements in Section 322 of the Robert T. Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act, as enacted by Section 104 of the Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000.


 
 
AMENDED BOUNDARIES OF PERRY TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT AREA - Thursday, April 01, 2010

            The Board of County Commissioners, in and for Lake County, Ohio, met this day in regular session with the following members present:

            Commissioners: Aufuldish, Sines and Troy

            Commissioner Aufuldish presented the following resolution and moved its adoption.

 

RESOLUTION AMENDING THE BOUNDARIES OF THE PERRY TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY REINVESTMENT AREA IN LAKE COUNTY

 

            WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners hereby finds and determines that all formal actions relative to the adoption of this resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Board of County Commissioners, and that all the deliberations of this Board of County Commissioners and of its committees, if any, which resulted in formal actions, were taken in meetings open to the public, in full compliance with applicable legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Revised Code, and

 

            WHEREAS, the Commissioners of Lake County, Ohio (hereinafter "Commissioners") by Resolution of the Board dated December 4, 1997 and in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 3735.66, previously designated a portion of Perry Township to be included in a Community Reinvestment Area known as the Perry Township Community Reinvestment Area; and

 

            WHEREAS, the Board has determined that remodeling of existing structures or the construction of new structures in the Perry Township Community Reinvestment Area continues to constitute a public purpose for which real property tax exemptions may be granted and that the Perry Township Community Reinvestment Area should be expanded.

 

            NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Commissioners of Lake Coutny, Ohio, that:

 

Section 1: Pursuant to ORC Section 3735.66, the expansion of the Perry Township Community Reinvestment Area is hereby established for the Permanent Parcel Numbers listed on Exhibit A attached hereto.  The expanded and complete Perry Community Reinvestment area is further depicted on the map attached to this resolution as Exhibit A.  Exhibit A is by this reference incorporated herein.

 

Section 2: That in all other respects, the terms and conditions and provisions applicable to the Perry Community Reinvestment Area remain in full force and effect in accordance with the Resolution of this Board dated December 4, 1997.

 

Section 3: This Resolution shall take effect and be in force from and after the earliest period allowed by law and upon confirmation by the Director of Development of the findings in this Resolution.

 

Section 4: The President of the Board of Lake County Commissioners is hereby directed and authorized to petition the Director of Development to confirm the findings contained within this Resolution.

 

            BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the Lake County Auditor; Budget Director; Director-Ohio Department of Development, 77 S. High Street, Columbus, OH 43215; and to Perry Township Trustees, P.O. Box 65, Perry, OH 44081.

            Commissioner Sines seconded the resolution and the roll being called upon its adoption, the vote resulted as follows:

RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING APRIL AS NATIONAL COUNTY GOVERNMENT MONTH AND CELEBRATING ITS 2010 THEME “HEALTHY COUNTIES”

               

                WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners hereby finds and determines that all formal actions relative to the adoption of this resolution were taken in an open meeting of this Board of County Commissioners, and that all the deliberations of this Board of County Commissioners and of its committees, if any, which resulted in formal actions, were taken in meetings open to the public, in full compliance with applicable legal requirements, including Section 121.22 of the Revised Code, and

 

                WHEREAS, the nation’s 3068 counties provide a variety of essential public services to communities serving 300 million Americans; and

 

                WHEREAS, Lake County and all counties take seriously their responsibility to protect and enhance the health, welfare and safety of its residents in sensible and cost-effective ways; and

 

                WHEREAS, county governments are integral to America’s healthcare system and are unique in their responsibility to both finance and deliver health services through public hospitals and clinics, local health departments, long-term care facilities, mental health services and substance abuse treatment, and coverage programs for the uninsured.  Lake County is proud to provide award winning service for all citizens, especially for the most vulnerable members of the community, from child abuse protection and child support enforcement to providing comprehensive substance abuse and mental health programs from our local agency with the highest level of certification available in the state; and

 

                WHEREAS, as employers, counties provide health insurance benefits to nearly three million county employees and their retirees nationwide.  Lake County has instituted a variety of supplemental programs throughout the year, along with its partners, healthcare provider UnitedHealthcare and local hospital system LakeHealth, for its employees to incorporate healthy habits into each working day as well as into their home lives, including:

·         Lunch-n-Learn informational programs

·         Pilates, Zumba and Yoga exercise classes

·         “Biggest Loser”weight loss challenge

·         10,000 Step walking program

·         podcasts offered through the county’s healthcare provider UnitedHealthcare

·         an annual Health Awareness Fair featuring on-site blood pressure, cholesterol, BMI, and glucose screenings

·         annual on-site mammograms

·         diabetes education program

·         smoking cessation program

                WHEREAS, the National Association of Counties is the only national organization that represents county government programs and services to raise public awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of the nation’s counties to meet the needs of the community.  The National Association of Counties and Lake County are working together to Restore the Partnership among all levels of government to better serve American communities.

 

                NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of County Commissioners, in and for Lake County, Ohio, does hereby proclaim April 2010 as National County Government Month and encourages all Lake County officials, employees, schools and residents to embrace the invitation to celebrate county government and the role it plays in building and sustaining safe, healthy and productive communities for its citizens.

  

                BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Clerk of the Board is hereby directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to All Lake County Elected Officials and Department Supervisors.

LAKE COUNTY COMPETITIVE MUNICIPAL GRANT PROGRAM - Monday, March 29, 2010

PUBLIC NOTICE

LAKE COUNTY Competitive Municipal Grant ProgramCOMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) AND

HOME INVESTMENT PARTNERSHIPS (HOME) PROGRAMS

FISCAL YEAR 2010 ACTION PLAN

 

The Competitive Municipal Grant Program is only available to participating communities located within the Lake Urban County.

 

The Board of Lake County Commissioners will hold a Public Hearing prior to the submission of the Annual Action Plan and the FY'10 CDBG and HOME Application to the U.S. Dept. of Housing & Urban Development (HUD).  Lake County is expecting to receive approximately $1.3 million in CDBG funds and $500,000 in HOME funds.

 

In following with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, Lake County’s CDBG and HOMES funds will be targeted towards housing rehabilitation and neighborhood stabilization activities only.

 

As mandated by HUD, only 15% of the CDBG funds ($195,000) will be utilized towards public service activities.

Applications for the Request of CDBG Funding for the Competitive Municipal Grant Program  and HOME Program RFP’s will be available beginning on April 1, 2010.  Applications may be requested by email to tracy.udrija@lakecountyohio.gov.

LAKE COUNTY FLOOD DAMAGE REDUCTION REGULATONS - Thursday, January 28, 2010

In accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 307.37 and 307.85, the Lake County Board of Commissioners, by resolution #20100128\C06 dated January 28, 2010, adopted the Revised Lake County Flood Damage Reduction Regulations for the Unincorporated Areas of Lake County, Ohio for participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.  Public hearings were held in accordance with applicable statutes on Tuesday, January 26, 2010 at 2:00 pm and Thursday, January 28, 2010 at 10:00 am, in the Commissioners’ Chambers, Lake County Administration Building, 105 Main Street, Fourth Floor, Painesville, OH 44077.
